In September 2016, Session asked the APNC to put their search for an Associate Pastor for Missional Engagement on hold until early 2017. The pause in the process was to allow the church to assess its priorities, including budget, before proceeding with the hiring process.
With the installation of Steve Schibsted as Interim Pastor in summer 2017, Session asked the APNC to re-initiate a search for a pastor to head the Mission Department. There are two major changes to the job description: 1) the position will no longer supervise University Ministries; and 2) the position is now “Temporary Supply,” rather than a permanent call, in light of the interim season. (A “Temporary Supply” pastor is hired directly by Session under a term-limited contract.)
The job description has been revised and submitted to the Personnel Committee of Session. As soon as it is approved, we can distribute the job posting to potential applicants and contacts who will refer applicants for the position. Thank you to our church community for your patience and pray with us for God’s chosen candidate to lead our missional efforts in the coming years.

In discussion with the APNC, Session has formally asked the APNC to put their search for an Associate Pastor for Missional Engagement on hold until early 2017. Session affirms the importance of this position to God’s mission through First Pres, and this pause in the process will allow the church to assess its priorities, including budget, before proceeding with the hiring process. The APNC’s work will be on hold but it will not disband.
