Children's Choirs

The goal of the children's choir program at First Pres is to give children the opportunity to worship, grow, and serve through music. The program runs from September to May. Registration takes place each fall, but children can join at any time; simply come to a rehearsal or contact Erica Maier, Assistant Director of Music Ministries, at (510) 848-6252 ext. 247 or at ericam@fpcberkeley.org. Cherub Choir (4 years-K Sept. through Dec.; 4 years-PreK Jan. through May) Cherubs learn that singing their faith is fun. Through songs and musical games, our youngest musicians are introduced to corporate worship and basic choral skills in a nurturing environment.

Make a Joyful Noise Choir (Grades 1-3 Sept. through Dec.; Grades K-2 Jan. through May) Children in Make a Joyful Noise learn music fundamentals through songs, games, and movement. They prepare choral music in unison and two parts for learning in worship and concerts.

Carpenter's Choir (Grades 4&5 Sept. through Dec.; Grades 3-5 Jan. through May) These young musician-disciples learn choral music in two and three parts for worship, concerts, and choir festivals. Vocal technique and musicianship are taught through a wide variety of musical styles.
