Marriage Small Groups
First Pres offers training and support for cultivating marriage relationships that embody the experience of a living, intimate relationship with God. We nurture and affirm this understanding in community, meeting in small groups of couples who are committed to the high calling of Christian marriage and are accountable to one another in love, grace, and truth.
Group process is facilitated by trained mentor couples and is based on the Prepare/Enrich inventory, a comprehensive assessment of each couple relationship that identifies strengths and vulnerabilities in 12 areas of marriage. There are five inventories, each geared toward a particular stage of couple life such as engaged and newly married, couples with children, or couples who are in a major life transition such as retirement or children leaving the nest. All couples have the opportunity to practice communication and conflict resolution skills, affirm and connect with another, and interact with other couples in a safe, confidential setting.
If you are interested in joining a small group or would like to have the Prepare/Enrich process facilitated in your existing small group, contact Jeanne James, Director of Marriage and Family Ministry, at (510) 848-6252 ext. 292 or at jeannej@fpcberkeley.org. Additional information about the Prepare/Enrich inventory can be found at www.lifeinnovations.com.
