Stephen Ministry

Stephen Ministry

We all experience challenges in life, times when we could benefit from the support of a caring Christian friend. Stephen Ministers are ready to provide emotional and spiritual care to individuals in our congregation and community who are experiencing difficulties in their lives. Equipped through an extensive 8-month training course, Stephen Ministers are lay persons who are gifted and called to caregiving; the care they offer is confidential, on-going, one-to-one, and free.

If you or someone you know might benefit from receiving care from a Stephen Minister, please contact Carol Johnston, Director of Stephen Ministry, at (510) 848-6252 ext. 274 or at carolj@fpcberkeley.org.

Stephen Ministry/Life Skills Training Class
Open to anyone interested in developing caring and relational skills, the Stephen Ministry Training Class runs from September to May each year. The application and schedule for the 2012-2013 Stephen Ministry/Life Skills Training Class will be available in May 2012. For more information, please contact Naomi Griffin, Administrative Assistant for Caring Ministries, at (510) 848-6252 ext. 241 or at naomig@fpcberkeley.org.

Stephen Ministry Advanced Class
This class is open to anyone who has taken the basic Stephen Ministry Training Class. Space is limited, and priority will be given to active Stephen Ministers who are retraining. This allows individuals to stay in supervision, to complete their retraining requirement, and to do so using new material to hone their skills. For more information, please contact Naomi Griffin, Administrative Assistant for Caring Ministries, at (510) 848-6252 ext. 241 or at naomig@fpcberkeley.org.
