Through nurturing relationships, engaging Bible-centered curriculum, and family-friendly activities, we seek to reach the hearts of children with the love and saving grace of Jesus Christ. At First Pres, we know that even the youngest disciples are capable of an authentic response to God’s word and presence through the body of Christ.

Nursery & Pre-School Worship

During worship hours on Sundays, we introduce children to the life and love of Jesus Christ through Bible storytelling, arts and crafts, music, and free play. Located in spacious, kid-friendly Westminster Hall, our classes are full of creativity, learning, laughter, and play.

Godly Play Sunday Morning Classes: Kindergarten through Fourth Grade

Godly Play is a narrative-based curriculum that incorporates worship, Bible stories, and creative activities, all designed to bring children into the presence of God. Storytellers form a circle of worship to tell the stories of God and the people of God, drawing on beautifully crafted materials to engage your child’s attention and imagination. Together as fellow worshippers, we wonder about God’s story and our place within it. Following the story circle is a time for children to ponder the story creatively, through art materials and engaging activities.

Family Worship

Children of all ages are welcome in every worship service. By fully including our children, we teach them the practice of worship and help them develop their own authentic worship. We also keep a well-stocked art cart for those children who learn better when they have something for their hands to do!

Cornerstone Children’s Center

Families at First Pres and throughout the community enjoy the availability of weekday nursery and pre-school classes at the Cornerstone Children’s Center, located in the heart of the church campus.

Founded in 1991, Cornerstone Children’s Center is a state-licensed Christian nursery and pre-school for children six weeks old through pre-kindergarten. Cornerstone is blessed with dedicated staff who pride themselves on being faithful servants, eagerly sharing the love of God with every child and family. They combine loving and safe care with creative and stimulating play to nurture young children and support their families.

Cornerstone Children’s Center is open from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm Monday through Friday, with flexible scheduling year-round. Learn more and apply for enrollment on the Cornerstone web page.

At First Pres, children and families participate in special services, classes, and events designed to help them build community and explore their place in God’s good news for the world. These events are usually scheduled around important holidays and traditions of the church community. Watch the calendar for details on upcoming events.

Vacation Bible School

SAVE THE DATE: July 24-28, 9 am – 1:30 pm for kids three years old (by July 24) through entering 5^th grade this spring

Every summer, Vacation Bible School Kids’ Camp brings children, youth, and adults together for an exciting week of storytelling, drama, music, worship, service to the community, and hands-on activities. During the week prior to Vacation Bible School, First Pres hosts a Leadership Camp to help young people (entering sixth graders and older) identify their gifts and strengths, work as a team, and prepare for leadership roles in Kids’ Camp and in the community.
