Berkeley Palmer Lectureship

April 22 @ 7:00 pm 8:30 pm

Each year, the Berkeley Palmer Lectureship examines, through current biblical theology and scholarship, issues of concern to the church and academy.

Dr. Jin Young Choi is Professor of New Testament and Christian Origins and Professorial Chair in Biblical Studies at Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School. She has been a prolific author and contributor to journals, books, and biblical commentaries. Her work focuses on the intersection of race/ethnicity, gender/sexuality, class, and empire.

At this year’s Berkeley Palmer Lecture, her presentation, “The Mystery of the Divine Economy,” will invite us to perceive the presence of the Mystery amidst our life together. How should Christians respond in solidarity with those invisible, voiceless, and displaced in today’s world? The Gospel of Mark illustrates the mystery of Jesus’ broken body embodying the divine economy while disrupting the imperial presence.

Admission is free, but registration is encouraged. The lectureship will be held in the First Pres Sanctuary.

Co-sponsored by New College Berkeley and First Presbyterian Church of Berkeley.
