Encountering Jesus for the First Time, Again: A Narrative Journey in the Shadow of the Galilean
March 26 @ 9:00 am – 10:15 am
Have you ever wondered what it would have been like to encounter Jesus and his teaching in his own day? The Shadow of the Galilean, by renowned biblical scholar Gerd Theissen, offers a fascinating narrative examination of Jesus’s ministry and message within the context of what we know socio-culturally and historically about the world in which he lived, healed, and taught. During this five-week experience, participants will meet in Geneva Hall room G202 to read and discuss Theissen’s illuminating and deeply engaging story as biblical scholar Michael Barram helps to unpack some of the social, cultural, political, economic, and historical dynamics that surface in the book.
