Serving Opportunities with First Pres Ministry Teams

Children’s Ministry Sunday Programs, Sundays, 9:40 am–11:10 am
Come and spend some time with the children in our congregation playing, praying, and rebuilding community. We are seeking fully vaccinated and boosted volunteers to provide a loving welcome and create safe spaces for the children we are called to care for in our community. Greeters & Servers for Holy Week Services
Following Christ’s example of service, we invite you to serve our community during our special Holy Week Services. Palm Sunday Hymn Sing Sunday & Ice Cream Social, April 10, 1-2 pm
Serve as a greeter from 12:30 -1:15 pm

Maundy Thursday Dinner and Service, April 14, 6-7:30 pm
Serve by preparing Communion elements from 5-6 pm

Easter Services, April 17, 8:15–10:15 am or 10:15 am–12:15 pm
You are invited to serve on the Easter Service Welcome Team as we extend a gracious greeting to all who gather for this traditional service of celebrating Christ’s resurrection. More info coming soon.

Lenten Offering

Our directed offering for the Lenten season will go to Berkeley Food and Housing Project as they prepare to open the new Hope Center. The goal of this development is to “create a continuum of affordable and very low-income housing that is Berkeley Food and Housing Project into the fabric of a vibrant downtown community, rich in transit and services” and will include 

  • 32 shelter beds for homeless adult men
  • 53 units of permanent supportive housing for homeless and disabled men and women
  • 12 transitional housing beds for homeless male veterans (in partnership with the VA)
  • Offices for support staff and partner agencies such as LifeLong Medical and Berkeley Mental Health
  • A commercial kitchen and dining facility for residents and daily Community Meal
