Opportunity International (OI) is a global non-profit working to end extreme poverty in our lifetime. OI believes that empowering individuals to work their way out of poverty and give their children a quality education is the most sustainable way to transform lives, families, and communities.
Small loans, training, and support to people living on less than $2 per day, are provided so that they can grow their businesses and send their kids to school. OI has worked in developing countries for 48 years, empowering millions of small business owners, farmers, and educators. It’s a hand up approach, rather than a handout. Opportunity responds to Jesus Christ’s call to love and serve the poor. They seek to emulate the “Good Samaritan” whose compassion crossed ethnic groups and religions and aims to serve the more difficult places when others cannot.
