The creative arts help us to experience the limitless creativity of God.

Music and art uplift, inspire, and connect us as a community. Our worship is enriched by art installations, dramatic storytelling, sacred songs led by our choirs, bands, and guest musicians, and more. We also present special services, concerts, and art events that invite in the wider community to experience awe and beauty.

Our ministry supports our congregation’s engagement in worship and provides meaningful opportunities for connection and service. If you are a professional musician or artist, someone who enjoys being creative with others, or simply appreciate beauty in worship, we invite you to join us!

Choirs

First Pres has a rich tradition of choirs for all ages! Our children’s, youth, and adult choirs sing in Sunday worship and are featured in annual concerts and special events. Contact James Parrish Smith for rehearsal details.

  • The First Pres Choir provides musical leadership for services during the school year.
  • Mosaic Voices is our inclusive community choir for people of all identities, backgrounds, and voice parts.
  • The Concert Choir sings in our Christmas Concert and in special worship services featuring choral music.
  • Our Children’s & Youth Choirs rehearse on most Sunday mornings and sing in worship services and concerts.

Worship Bands

Reflecting the diversity of gifts within our community, our worship teams lead us into deep experience and expression of worship on Sundays and at worship events during the year.

Jazz Band

The First Pres Jazz Band plays soulful and spirited tunes in our worship services and at community events during the year.

Handbells

Come ring bells with us! Our handbell choir prepares music for special services such as Music Sunday, Easter, and Christmas Eve. Get in touch to join our email list.

Art Group

First Pres has a vibrant community of artists who create in a variety of mediums. At various times during the year, often for special services or liturgical seasons, our Sanctuary becomes home for collaborative art installations that welcome and encourage congregational participation.
