Beginning September 11 with Kick-Off Sunday (scroll below for more details), we will start a new rhythm on Sunday mornings, centered around worship while also creating space for faith formation and community gatherings:

  • 9 am            Learn
  • 10:30 am    Worship
  • 11:30 am     Gather

Our 9 am hour will offer community LEARNing experiences for participants of all ages. Adults can participate in 5-6 week sessions on a variety of topics in a community setting. There will also be children and youth offerings during this hour.

During the 10:30 am hour, together, we will WORSHIP God through word, song, and prayer. Sunday School for children ages 0 to 4th grade will also be offered.

Finally, at the 11:30 am hour, we will GATHER in the Plaza for a time of fellowship.

This new schedule is part of how we are loving concretely as we strive to provide opportunities for all to engage in meaningful experiences throughout their faith journey.

Kick-Off Sunday
Join us on September 11 for the official start of our 2022-2023 program year at First Pres!

9 am, Why Church? Panel Conversation, Westminster Gym

Join the pastors and moderator Dr. Michael Barram for an honest conversation about why we continue to gather to do this strange thing called Church together and how it’s more important now than ever.

10:30 am, Worship, Sanctuary

11:30 am, And It Was Good Art Event, Calvin Hall and Plaza

Hosted by Creation Care and Climate Justice Working Group, this event encourages the entire congregation and friends of the First Pres community to intentionally engage with nature and create tangible expressions of the blessings they received during those experiences. At the event, together we will reflect on these blessings by viewing featured individual and collaborative art pieces from members and friends of our church family.

Cookies and Cupcakes for Creation Care
We are all uniquely created by God to be creative in our own unique way. For some it’s through a camera, a canvas, or clay or cloth. For others it’s a culinary creation! Celebrate God’s good creation by sharing your favorite baked good. Nothing says welcome and fosters community like sharing homemade (or someone-made) goodies.

Bring 1-2 dozen treats to the Plaza on Sunday, September 11, between 10–10:40 am.

Opportunities to Serve
Another way to contribute to this event is through your gift of time. Servers are needed to:

  • Receive and distribute Cookies, Cupcakes and other Culinary Creations to the serving tables prior to the worship service
  • Clean up serving tables and consolidate remaining items at the end of the event
