A legacy of faith in action.
Since 2013, we have focused our mission activity in four key areas we call JPOW—justice, peace, oppression, and women. This focus recognizes that women and girls disproportionately bear the consequences of war, violence, educational disparities, trafficking, and oppression of every kind. Most of the mission partners we support are dedicated to one or more of the JPOW focus areas.
First Pres also has a rich history of sending mission teams into the world to put our faith into action. Recent mission trip teams visited our mission partner Project Mercy in Ethiopia in 2019 and built a new parsonage for a university church in Lampang, Thailand, in 2020. Each year, Youth and University Ministries also send teams abroad to learn and serve. These trips give us the opportunity to see Christ at work through our partners around the world.
We are striving to participate in what God is doing in our continually changing world. First Pres Berkeley is becoming more locally engaged and hands-on while still supporting and loving our global partnerships. When we commit to God’s heart and hope for humankind, we join with local and global partners to demonstrate our alignment with God’s intent for the world through the support we give and the services we offer.
