People gather in the kitchen to enjoy each other’s company, bless and be blessed, and share delicious food. The Kitchen at First Pres was born out of a desire to create precisely this kind of space on our church campus. By bringing together several ministries of the church devoted to serving our neighbors, we are excited to pool resources, grow volunteer teams and partnerships, and expand possibilities for serving people in need. Food Pantry
Started in 2021, our Food Pantry is open on 1st & 3rd Saturdays of the month and serves 100+ households each time. We fill bags with pantry staples as well as fresh items such as produce, eggs, meat, and bread. Around the holidays, we offer extra goodies to help our neighbors prepare for their own celebrations.
Street Meal
First Pres has served hot, nutritious meals to our neighbors for 35+ years. Volunteers from the church and community prepare food and greet guests on the 2nd & last Saturdays of the month. Our Street Meal is part of a web of support in the city of Berkeley available to anyone who faces food insecurity.
Donations
We welcome clothing, toiletry, and non-perishable food donations! It’s an easy way to give—just pick up a few extra items each time you go shopping. We especially need new or gently used men’s clothing in larger sizes. Drop off items every Sunday at the Now GO! Table and during the week at Reception.
